Which long-serving and highly-respected member of the administrative staff passed away suddenly in March 1966?

From the 1996 "Janus"

I remember him well, but sadly have not a single photo. (Chris Snuggs)

It was unusual (and I think unique) in being a contribution to "Janus" from an Old Boy.
