Michael Coulter 4/66-7/89 Head of Art  -  Asst. Hm Halls 4/66-??

A Few Reminiscences
Chris Hopkirk - Halls 72-79: "Mr Coulter was assistant head in Halls. I always remember him being a kind decent man. Actually thinking about it now with John Morris as housemaster and Mike Coulter and Mr Cromarty as assistants we had genuinely decent carers in Halls. I count myself very fortunate."

Richard Stokes - Halls 72-79: "Mike was a super nice guy - probably my favorite teacher. Was first XV coach in the early 70s. He would let a bunch of us watch telly in his flat between Halls and Johnstons."

Sean Brown - Halls 76-81: "Scary looking at first with his Victorian sideburns but he turned out to be a very nice guy indeed."

Simon Jones - Johnstons 74-80: "Taught me for Art 'A' Level. I remember he let me bring in my small turntable sound system during the exam. I think it was 5 hours but my memory may be tricking me."

Mark Richards - Halls 64-69: "Mike Coulter (affectionately known as 'Jum-Jar' on account of his Staffordshire accent and frequent references to water containers) was an inspiration to me. Painting has been an abiding hobby of mine, and 55 years later I still hear his words of encouragement, for which I am very grateful."
