John Cini - Hansons 69-76: "It is with great sadness for me to announce the passing of Francis Abberley (Orwell 69-76). Francis died at St Thomas's yesterday following health issues. He will be sorely missed by all his friends in our year and recently attended a gathering with some Woolverstone friends in London. He was such a lovely guy. May he rest in peace."

Frank Stuckey - unknown: "Ugg went to the same primary school as me: St Matthew’s Westminster - great bass guitarist in Orwell house."

Michael Moran - Orwell 71-77: "Yes! Frankie Abberley: the man who inspired me to start playing the bass. 48 years later, I’m still trying."

Andrew Campbell - Corners 68-??: "Sad news. Frank was a lovely guy with a great sense of humour. RIP."

Jim Hayter - Corners 69-76: "Sad news, I remember him playing the Bassoon in the orchestra. RIP Francis."

Kyriacos Zap Tsaparelli - Orwell 67-74: "Frank was a lovely guy. I think his nickname was Ugg. We performed in a few concerts at school, and also performed an Old Boys concert a couple of years after we left. I was performing as a magician in a chateau just south of Paris and someone called out my name: it was Frank. He was playing bass in the band. May he Rest in Peace."

Merlin Rhys Jones - Johnstons 71-75: "Francis has been one of my closest friends for over 50 years. I'm very grateful to his friends Amy, and David Bannister for their unflagging support and devotion over the last difficult couple of years, and all the other friends who visited him in hospital, as well as those who were unable to but remember him fondly. A very sad loss."

Mark Frost - Hansons 70-77: "So very sad. He used to play bassoon in the 1st orchestra. RIP Francis."

Bill Kitchen - unknown: "May he rest easy."

Peter Warne - Corners 66-73: "Sad news. RIP Frank."

Simon Crees - Berners 68-75: "Thoughts and prayers for Frank's (Ugg's) family."

Siggi Halling - Johnstons 71-75: "Very sad news. Although the year below, our paths often crossed at school and I met him a few times afterwards, as he was a good friend of Merlin Rhys-Jones, who I'm still in touch with. God bless you Francis and RIP."

Louis Parperis - Orwell 63-70: "I remember him from my last year and his first in Orwell because of the smile constantly on his face. I met him a few times after we had both left when he seemed to have retained that same happy disposition. It is extremely sad news but tinged with the special warmth of knowing how many of his friends found the time to make their farewells."

Robin Skinner - Johnstons 67-74: "Not my year, but we used to meet up in his local. And tickets to the Venue in Victoria. So long Frank ...."
