The Miracle of Life    -    Chris Snuggs

What is the definition of a miracle?

1) an extraordinary event manifesting divine intervention in human affairs

2) an extremely outstanding or unusual event, thing, or accomplishment

'O' Levels! That was an exciting time: the culmination of five years' hard work. All the exams were in the gym: why there and not the larger hall I don't know.

Here is the 1963 Physics paper, for which I got a 2. I would certainly get a 6 or worse (if that exists) now! Amazed that I once knew so much! I was useless at maths, but very interested in the natural sciences, and Fred Mudd and Peter Cox were great teachers, so I owe them, a lot. I was proud of my 2, which means in fact ALMOST excellent. I suppose that is a reasonable epitaph for someone's life, too. I mean, we can't ALL be exceptional, can we?

One regret is that I didn't keep my 'O' Level RESULTS paper. Must have got lost during one of our many moves - or my Dad threw it away while I was at WHS just as he did all my old "Wizard", "Hotspur" and "Beano" mags. And even more sadly there are NO EXAMPLES of exam results slips in the archives. Has nobody got one?
